Atlanta's Next Top Model, Cycle 5

Atlanta's Next Top Model Cycle 5 is the fifth season of Atlanta's Next Top Model. It premiered on Friday, March 19, 2010. The prizes have remained the same. The winner will receive management and representation by IMG Model Management, a beauty contract with Revlon worth $100 000, and a 6 page spread (and the cover) within Elle Magazine. Instead of a new car as part of the bonus prize, the winner will not only have the opportunity to meet with top casting agents in Paris, France (same as Cycle 4), but also in Milan, Italy (new to Cycle 5).

Contestants who are eligible in the contest must be at least 5'7" in height. The age limit is 16 to 27. The other, final eligibility requirement needs the contestants to be at least 105 pounds in weight, to promote healthy eating. The judging panel change has been the cause for much delay in the production of Cycle 5. Only Sophie Q and Taylor Vanderburgliesse have resumed their positions as permanent judges. We welcome new permanent judges Kirsty Lenans, executive stylist and new fashion designer, and Kora Preobrazhensky, fashion show director and former male model.

This cycle's overseas international fashion destination is _________________________.

The tagline/motto for this cycle is "A breath of fresh air".

The final 2 contestants will once again make it to a live finale where the audience and general public may vote for the winner (though they do not decide who ultimately becomes the winner, as they are just accounted for as one additional vote to the judges' votes in the finale). Prior to the finale, the models will go on go-sees themselves to determine the final catwalks they will walk in for the finale judging. A finalist may book all jobs or no jobs - it is up to them.

In the end, _________________________ was crowned the fourth Atlanta's Next Top Model on _________________________.

Weekly Synopsis

A Breath of Fresh Air,

  • A crop of 28 new aspiring models from Atlanta duel it out to earn a place in Cycle 5's top 14 Top Model house - where the competition really begins.

A group of 28 girls step inside the RCAC where they mingle for some drinks and settle down in the lobby. Suddenly, a huge explosion is heard in the background. All the girls face the back of the centre where they see a tall Russian man dressed in military attire strutting towards them. They all cheer wildly. The man salutes the girls and kisses Jenna's hand. Dani, being Jenna's best friend (in and out of the competition) is ecstatic for her. Danica rushes forward to catch up with the action and she is jealous. The man introduces himself as Kora Preobrazhensky, former male model, Russian army soldier, and currently a fashion show director. He welcomes the girls to the competition and tells them all that it won't be all fun and games from the get go. It is Cycle 5 and they are looking for talent stronger than ever before. Kora leads the girls in front of a stage and a runway sprouts out from it. He bids the girls farewell, but before he leaves, he tells the girls one more thing - he will be a new permanent judge! The girls scream and shout for him. Ro rolls her eyes and wonders why everybody is going crazy over him. There is a great pause and the girls wonder what happens next. To much surprise, Sophie Q finally appears from behind the stage and struts down the runway in a Roberto Cavalli dress. Her hair is up in a chignon. She welcomes the girls. There is a giant roar from the girls. She announces to the girls that the judges are looking for a high fashion editorial top model this cycle. She then makes all the girls tie their hair up in chignons or ponytails. One by one, the girls show off their runway walks straight off the bat. A few girls fall flat and a few literally fall flat on their face! Emeline shows off a signature sultry yet fierce walk. Dani shows off an energetic strut. Alicia-Rose and Alice become quick friends and talk smack about the other contestants. Alice says that the only girl she needs to watch out for is Ro. Ro sees potential in Nathalie, Lauren, Ocean, and Silvje. The girls then venture into the swimming pool room. Sophie Q tells the girls to take off all their clothes until they "only have a bra and panties on". The girls obey. A few of them are wearing G-strings, however. Dani is very skeptical about her body. Alice and Alicia-Rose glance at each other and then Dani, and then have a few chuckles. Alice wonders why Dani has no breasts. The girls are told to do back floats in the water and take an editorial photograph. After they are done, they dry up and the judges begin to evaluate the photos. Next, the 28 girls come back and Sophie Q is there to greet them again. She says that there are 28 comp cards for the girls, but only 20 have Sophie Q's signature on them - indicating the 20 semifinalists who will advance to the next round. A few girls celebrate, and the others are in shock and tears. Gray cannot believe she was rejected again after trying out again. Perin cries the hardest because she is plus-sized, has tried out numerous times, and this time was her last time to try out (she is 27). The girls are then taken outside where they are measured. When Dani takes off her clothes, Alice blurts out and asks her why she has no breasts. All the girls turn to face Alice in shock. Alice shrugs. Dani looks down. Jenna steps forward to defend her best friend. Dani explains to everybody that she is a pre-operational transsexual. This shocks all the girls, including the person measuring her. Lea is astounded. Danica starts singing a song to ease the tension (as she is a singer). Nathalie tells her not to Georgia tells everyone to just calm down. Alicia-Rose defends her friend, Alice, and tells everyone that she was just curious. Kris steps forward to say that everyone should not judge Dani based on "what" she is, but "who" she is. Everybody shuts up. When they are in the garden, Kora steps out, shirtless. He tells the girls that they are going to do a photo shoot right then and there, with him, in the garden, to determine who should be a part of the Top 14. The girls are excited, but nervous. Dani pulls it together and works it. Kora commends her on her courage and perseverance - he then tells her that she is "a sexy woman inside and out". She smiles and a new found energy surrounds her. The girls get some sleep in the hotel. Finally, the next morning, after breakfast on the balcony, Sophie Q says hi to the girls, and goodbye to some girls...as the Top 14 are chosen, one by one.
The First (Cold) Cut,

  • The 14 finalists of Cycle 5 move into the Top Model house in Rein where they share more than just a few laughs. The photo shoot requires the girls to travel to the frigid region of McKenzie where the girls bear all - and pose together. With only one item for both nude models to pose with, the stakes are high, as the first elimination occurs afterward.

The girls who made it into the competition scream and shout. Ocean misses her family dearly already. Georgia misses her horses, Lucy & Louise. Becca is glad to be in the competition because she's had probably more real life modeling experience than any of the other girls right now but is intimidated because the judges may expect a lot more from her. Lea decides that Alice is the bitch and feels like she'll have to get on her good side, and then use her, in order to get far in the competition! Alice & Alicia-Rose are still close after casting week. The girls meet Sophie Q in the green room where she tells them to get their hair, make up, and costuming done as soon as possible, because industry big names are outside waiting to check out the exclusive batch of new girls. Emeline rushes to her chair first, bumping into Nathalie without apologizing. Nathalie speaks to Ro in private about the matter. Ro decides that Emeline seems quite annoying and full of herself from what she observed already. Lea moves over to Alice and Alicia-Rose. She asks Alicia-Rose if she can help her tie a tie. Alicia-Rose doesn't know how. Alice helps her instead. Lea admits in a confessional that she's seen Alice and her tie collection so she must know how to do one. She's getting closer and closer to becoming a "friend"! She chuckles. One by one, the girls work it on the runway in front of fashion big names. At the end of the runway, they must say a bit introducing themselves and walk back. Lea goes first. Her strut is powerful. When she reaches the end of the runway, she strikes a fierce pose, then reverts to a smiling sweetheart. "I'm Lea, 16, and I'm a student." There was an enormous pause and a couple of chuckles. Lea blanks out and concludes her speech with, "And I'm mixed!" She snaps her fingers and struts back with personality. Dani surprises everybody when she reveals that she is a pre-op transsexual. She begins to unbutton her shirt but wiggles her index finger, signaling a "no". She struts back. Georgia is seen as the sweetheart of the group when she announces that she is an equestrian. There were many gasps among the girls watching backstage as well. Emeline says, "She must ride really well!" trying to crack a joke - but fails. Danica underwhelms. Ro steps out and the audience claps. A member of the audience shouts "You're gorgeous!" and the audience claps. Alicia-Rose tries to top her. When she reaches the end of the runway, she makes a provocative move. Her speech reveals that she once posed for PlayBoyREIN before and that she thinks she has the experience it takes to be a high fashion model. The girls laugh backstage. When she begins to strut back, she trips a bit but regains her composure and goes back. Alice laughs and tells her what she just did wrong. Kris has a heartbreaking story to tell - she was actually an orphan at a very young age (with both her parents dead from a fatal car crash) and was raised by an abusive aunt and uncle. She moved from one orphanage to another and almost turned to the adult film industry, but decided to get a real job, live on welfare when she was 18 and eventually took it from there. She says this will be the opportunity of a lifetime. She is currently living with her fiance and his family. The girls meet Sophie Q backstage where she announces that the winner of this event, which was a challenge, will win immunity from this week's elimination. Sophie Q reveals that it is Ro who has the most potential. However, she feels like Kris came very close as well, so she decided to give her an additional prize, but not immunity. Her prize was that she receives an extra 35 frames in her photo shoot this week. She then gives Ro the key to their new mansion. The girls get into their limo and drive to a mansion - the Top Model house. Pool in the middle of the house. Futuristic theme through out. Green/energy saving appliances. After the girls run around to claim their beds and such, Lauren finds herself without one. Being the eldest of the bunch, she claims that it is okay, but Ocean decides to give up her bed because she feels as though, "Age is just a number". Lauren seems to be the mother of the house, as she cooks, cleans, and washes after the girls. Kris feels bad and decides to help her. Lauren thanks her and they share a moment together going through the roughness in their lives. Lauren reveals to Kris that she was once a rape victim. Kris tells her the same. Lea joins Alice in her room with Alicia-Rose (obviously). She talks with Alice and says that Sophie Q only gave Kris her challenge win because she had a sob story. Alice did not agree, nor disagree. The following morning, the girls are awaken early in the morning by Margaret Stern-Stowry! Emeline is ecstatic to meet her, even at 4 o'clock in the morning. She tells them that they must travel to McKenzie for their first photo shoot. The girls get ready very quickly. They reach their destination at 7 30AM. Hair and make-up takes 20 minutes. The girls then wonder where the wardrobe team is. Margaret comes in to tell the girls - and surprise them - that their first photo shoot will be NUDE. She goes into detail saying they will pose with EACH OTHER, in pairs, sharing ONE item of clothing or accessory from BCBG MAX AZRIA in which they must model effectively. She tells the girls to pick partners. Lea goes to Alice but she has already picked Alicia-Rose. Ocean is the only one without a partner, and so is Lea - so they partner together. Each pair is then ASSIGNED an item of clothing.

Duo Item
Alice & Alicia-Rose Shoes
Dani & Jenna Beach Towel
Becca & Danica Shirt
Georgia & Emeline Dress
Kris & Lauren Pants
Ro & Nathalie Necklaces
Lea & Ocean Swimsuit

Alice struggles while working with Alicia-Rose. Alicia-Rose has a tendency to show off her boobs. Alice has to press up against her to hide them most of the time, demonstrating very awkward posing, but manages to keep her face modelesque. Lea & Ocean struggle to find a natural chemistry. They don't know what to do with a one-piece swimsuit but halfway through out the shoot, they start working it. Kris & Lauren wow Margaret and the photographer (Russell James) with their creativity, fluidity, chemistry, and modeling potential. Dani is having a nervous breakdown as she still retains a penis, although transsexual. Jenna is fine posing with her, but they must shield Dani's privates with the beach towel they are given. This forces the duo to not sell the garment effectively, but they work in with the rest of their bodies and their faces. Becca stands out far more than Danica. A lot of the creative ideas do come from Becca though and not Danica. Danica is a good listener and she follows directions though. Georgia & Emeline portray a battle of the redheads scenario. Their photo is extremely high fashion and editorial. The girls return to their loft. Emeline explodes and claims that none of the girls likes her. Alice bluntly states that perhaps there's a reason. Emeline complains about this during judging, and tells them of Alice's cold and condescending behaviour. The girls are shocked. Alice defends herself intelligently. She claims that she had a tough childhood and that she is a laid-back musician who just happens to be very blunt as she is so used to critique all her life. This makes Lea fond of her even more. While waiting for the judges' decision backstage, Emeline claims that she has a "99% chance of going home this week but she is not sorry for what she said about Alice". Lea defends Alice a lot. Lauren admits in a confessional that she doesn't see the goodness inside Alice either, but surely thinks Emeline was out of her head and would be so damn surprised if she was not eliminated that week. Sophie Q announces the new panel of judges. Taylor admits he is jealous that he is not "the best looking guy on the panel anymore." Kora laughs.
Emeline is criticized by the judges for tattling as it is something a model should never do. Her photo was fierce, however. The judges loved her look and wanted to see past her awkward, unique personality and the way she approached others. Kirsty yelled at Emeline for "being the REAL condescending one". The girls were surprised at Kirsty's bluntness.
Ocean showed the judges she can work her face but her body looked gangly and awkward. The judges noted that it took a while for her & Lea to get into the groove. She outshined Lea, however.
Lea underwhelmed the judges. They thought that perhaps with a makeover she would be much more modelesque. She needed to be a little more creative in her poses too.
Kris wowed the judges. She maintained energy and modeling potential throughout the entire film. She did not need the 35 extra frames. She had one of the best photos of the bunch.
Georgia looked like she worked as a body builder her whole life. The angle in which she was standing was unflattering to her figure and the angle in which her face was at, was unflattering for her face. However it was unique. Kirsty begged to differ from the other judges and said it was her favourite shot as it was something she'd see in Italian Vogue - "very fashion forward".
Ro shone in her photo and the judges thought she deserved the challenge win very much.
Alicia-Rose was outshone by Alice. She was seen as hoochie and stiff in some of her photos. The judges wanted to see her with a makeover.
Danica underwhelmed the judges. Kirsty bluntly called her out on "having no potential at all" and that she "should just stay a singer instead". The other judges begged to differ. Kora thought she just needed more time. Her poses were quite amateur. Danica cried.
Nathalie showed the judges she had modeling potential. They loved her poses but wanted her to work on a larger variety of expressions.
Jenna was commended on her model body and high fashion appeal. She seemed like an easy front runner as of now.
Lauren showed that she had a classic, timeless, modelesque face - and that made her have immense modeling potential. They thought she was going to go far as well. She had a real fragility in her photograph, but retained her maturity and motherly appeal as well. Very well done.
Alice was commended for her unique look and personality. The judges loved her photo but she told the judges how Alicia-Rose was the problem in her photo shoot. She looked stiff as well but outshone Alicia-Rose nonetheless. Taylor knew she was going to go very far in the competition.
Becca was seen as "an average model". She didn't seem to stand out. Her photo was undoubtedly modelesque, but she was told that she needed to work even harder now, because she has had more experience than the other girls in the competition. She needed to work on her figure just a little more as she seemed very bony with her ribcage. Taylor believes she photographs older than she looks and this may be a problem in the future.
Dani, last but not least, wowed the judges when they found out she was "a pre-op transsexual posing nude with a female partner in subzero temperatures with only a towel!" She made the judges and girls laugh and she seemed like the bond between the girls and the carefree life of the party. The judges definitely saw modeling potential there but wanted to see more of a model in person. She was very creative, however, but she needed to work on the angles of her face a little more. She worked the towel well and was commended for actually working on her body to look like a girl!
SOPHIE Q: "Will Emeline & Becca step forward, please? Let us begin with Emeline. You've got modeling potential and a beautiful face, no doubt about it. You're the tallest girl here. However, we look at you in person and AS a person, and as an actual working model working with other models and potential employers. We feel like you have excuse after excuse, and undoubtedly, you just pissed off all of your housemates already. Do we think you can continue? Becca, you boast about having more experience than any of these other girls, but we want to see it. We don't want cookie cutter models. You photograph older than you look, and we want somebody fresh. Could this be your ultimate letdown? I'm afraid to say it is...Emeline. Congratulations, Emeline, the judges want to give you another chance. Use it well, and hope that none of these girls kill you back at the house! Hahaha. Good luck Becca, we know you can model. But an international top model, we're unsure."
ELIMINEE: "I did not expect that at all...I thought they could've given me more time. *bawling* It's just not fair. Some of these girls don't have potential. They've said it. Like Danica, she shouldn't be here. She won't win. I'm going to go back to modeling - because that IS what I do best."

Not Just A Pretty Face,

  • With the surprise of one model's save by the judges (when all the girls thought of her to be the eliminee from the previous week), the house explodes in quarrel. The remaining contestants must prove to the judges that they have everything it takes - in the face - to take a timeless beauty shot.

When the remaining 13 girls get back to their mansion, Emeline wags a finger at the girls indicating that she is not sorry for what she did. Alice, Alicia-Rose, & Lea scream back at her immediately. Ro joins in and tells Emeline off. Kris is surprised by the immaturity and obnoxiousness of all the girls in the house. She wishes for peace and quiet. Dani calls home telling her best friend, her biological sister, Lanette, that she hates being in the house. Lanette tells her to keep her head in the game and that the prize is what she is there for. Alice's salad is spoiled and Nathalie automatically assumes that it is Emeline who does it. Emeline explodes once again and tells the girls that she will be on top, no matter what, and win. The girls get Sophie Mail and they know that it is time for makeovers! Sophie Q takes them to the Ann Schumaecher salon and the girls are all seated in front of a mirror with a cloth over it. Each girl receives their makeovers. Lea is devastated by the shortness of her hair and cries over the phone talking to her boyfriend. Alice sees her as weak. Alice loves her makeover. Alicia-Rose is devastated as well, being the girl with the most dramatic change. Kris says that she's had this hair before but doesn't mind. Danica looks more high fashion and she says that she will work on her attitude to be more high fashion as well. Nathalie and Ro sit back, relax, and comfort the girls who struggle with their changes, as they receive no makeovers (for being modelesque already!) Georgia looks gorgeous with straight hair. Dani is glad to have extensions and she admits to definitely feeling more feminine. Lauren's bone structure stands out even more with her jet black hair. Ocean is disappointed with the minimal change she received but Ro tells her that it's good that she even received a change and that she should be grateful with no matter what change she was given. Back at the house, the girls check out their hair and complain that the house has a lot of redheads. They target Emeline, specifically, for her condescending attitude. Emeline decides not to backlash and the girls anymore. At the challenge, the girls are sent to style themselves (make-up, clothes, hair) to show off their new, personal style now at a local mall. They each have 15 minutes to change into a whole new outfit, and self, and return to the stage where they must model their looks in front of a public crowd. Lea doesn't feel comfortable and reverts back to her old style anyway. Danica goes a little too far and is headed in the wrong direction with her styling. The public votes for Georgia as the girl with most style but the judges disagree. They ultimately vote for Alice to win. She is told that she wins a deluxe spa and mani/pedi package at a resort, in which she is able to bring 2 friends to accompany her. She chooses Alicia-Rose and Lauren. Lauren is surprised by her decision as she seldom talks to Alice. Lea is extremely jealous. She decides to ruin Alice's dinner by pouring too much soy sauce into it but is caught red-handed by Emeline. Emeline & her discuss what is right. They decide to lay it off if Lea agrees to support Emeline in the competition. Lea agrees, while in a confessional, reveals that she was lying. The next morning, Ocean finds out that she is breaking out. Lauren and Kris go to check up on her and tell her that it's probably just stress and the drama in the house. Ocean agrees. They are brought to the photo shoot location - in the middle of a lush forest with a small cascading waterfall. They are told that they must sell a radiance serum for Caudalie:Vinoperfect to achieve wet-looking, shimmering, fashion-beauty, moisturizing effect; http://www.photobusiness.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/9-beauty-outdoor-sidelight.jpg. Ocean is horrified because her skin is bad. They must put themselves under the waterfall, and come through, while selling their "flawless" skin and striking a serene expression. This will be the first beauty shot. Many girls brush their hair back to show off their face. Lauren's bone structure and face radiates, even for being the oldest of the bunch. Margaret confronts Ocean about her skin and Ocean says that "it's nothing, really". Danica's potential begins to shine through for Margaret.
Emeline shows the judges that she is a gorgeous girl on the outside. A few of the judges are still wondering whether or not her personality will get in the way of her career.
Ocean looked unhappy and distracted throughout the shoot. The judges were disappointed with her comment about her face when Margaret asked her about it.
Lea shone through the photo, unexpectedly. She was so proud and the judges were proud. Sophie Q told her that her makeover worked wonders for her.
Kris, once again, had one of the best photos of the bunch. It looked effortless. She seemed like a true model.
Georgia seemed like she was made for beauty. The judges loved her shot. They wanted her to bring a little more energy to the shoots as she did in person though.
Ro had a gorgeous shot. The judges definitely still saw her as one of the front runners in the competition.
Alicia-Rose seemed to lack some emotion in her photograph. She had an interesting makeover - but it just seemed like she "was a pretty girl with an edgy hair doo".
Danica, once again, underwhelmed the judges. They didn't see any model in the photo. However, they saw potential and a spark of confidence in her. Danica got onto her knees and told them that she is a very bubbly and eager learner which the judges found redeeming.
Nathalie had a lackluster photograph. They were unsure as to whether or not last week's photo was a fluke or not. She had an amazing face for beauty but failed to carry it through this week. The judges also wanted to see some more personality and presence in person too.
Jenna had an elf-like beauty to her. The judges just wanted her eyes to be a bit bigger in her photograph. Other than that, she was modelesque.
Lauren did not please the judges as much as they would've liked her to. She disappointed the judges greatly because they saw immense potential and a timeless, classic, beauty-ad face in her photo last week, but it did not come across that way this week. They were nervous for her.
Alice was congratulated on her sense of style and modesty. The judges loved her face. Taylor said it was somewhat too sexy and Kora begged to differ. Kirsty and Sophie Q laughed.
Dani's masculine features did not please the judges. They were unsure as to whether this would handicap her modeling potential and career. Dani said that she would work on her facial expressions.
SOPHIE Q: "Will Ocean & Nathalie please come forward? Let's begin with Ocean. We have particular interest in your potential and maturity for your age - but this does not come across too well in your photos. You seem to know how to model but where it matters most - you lack - in the FACE. Nathalie. We see a gorgeous, effortless African-Atlantan beauty standing before us. But we don't see what you have to offer from the inside. We want vivacious and memorable personalities and personas. So who stays? The girl with the face, who doesn't know how to use it? Or the girl with everything a guy AND girl would want, but fails to deliver when the time is right? Well, it looks like you'll be getting another chance, Ocean."
ELIMINEE: "It was extremely disappointing for me. I didn't think I was going to go so soon at all. I'm going to go back to my day job, continue my studies, and hopefully in the future, I'll still be interested in modeling, and have all the goods still, so that I can model."

Pose or Die!,

  • Benny Ninja comes in to show the girls how to rob a bank. One of the girls has a nervous breakdown when she is faced with two of her fears at the same time during the photo shoot - heights and water.

Ro picks on Dani and harasses her with personal questions about her sexuality. Jenna comes in to defend her. Ro wonders why Dani always needs Jenna to come to Dani's rescue. Dani confronts Ro personally and states that she has "lost all respect" for Ro. Tensions build in the house whilst the Emeline-Alice quarrel still has not subsided yet. Alicia-Rose and Emeline are fighting over using the phone for too long. Alice does not help either girl and Alicia-Rose is disappointed in Alice, questioning her loyalty and truthfulness in a confessional. Alice and Lea believe Alicia-Rose is too naive to be alive. The next day, the girls meet Benny Ninja at a safety deposit vault. They are taught the art of vogueing and must slink their way with poses to retrieve a diamond. Whoever could go through the track in the shortest time, strike the most appealing poses (decided by Benny) will win the challenge. The challenge winner was Dani, who won an exclusive diamond necklace. She picked Jenna as her friend to share the prize. Jenna won diamond earrings. Immediately following the challenge, Margaret Stern-Stowry and the creative team are revealed to be behind the vault. Their first photo shoot of the week awaits. The girls are put into tight, black, latex onesie suits and must strike poses with bank vault, neon burglary alarm lights/lines. They are to pose with a COACH bag. The ad is to sell the purse. Most of the girls do well. Georgia does some very unique poses with her equestrian background. Alicia-Rose, being a dancer, also strikes and holds good poses. Back at the house, Alicia-Rose confronts Lea about her dwindling relationship with Alice. Lea uses this to her advantage and calls upon Emeline. Together, Lea, Emeline, & Alicia-Rose call Alice out as a bitch. Alice, for once, shows tears and emotions, much to the other girls' dismay. They question the validity of her feelings. Alice cries while the other girls support her and go against the other group. She calls her boyfriend to contemplate whether or not she should quit. Instead, she just goes to sleep, alone, in the middle of the weight room. The next day, the girls wake up very early to go to the beach, where they are met by Margaret again. The girls wonder why they are doing two photo shoots before an elimination. Margaret tells them that they will be critiqued on two photo shoots in the same week, this week, to see how well they can handle the competition and how consistent they are with their posing and modeling. Alice is seen as very sad and lacks energy. The creative team (MUAs & wardrobe) comfort her. Still, she turns it out in the photo shoot and the girls are intimidated. Georgia and Danica surprise the girls the most as they are the most improved, and also the most consistent this week as well. Alicia-Rose fails to impress as her posing is awkward and she is not selling the gorgeous, flowy, high fashion, Valentino dress properly. Lauren has a fear of water and heights, which causes her to have a nervous breakdown backstage. She calms down, but right before the shoot, she is petrified when she sees that she has to hang on a harness held up by a thin piece of a ship's end. They are to pose 20m above the ocean waters while the boat moves and they must sell the dress, while it flows in the wind, and captures the beauty of the sun's ray's and reflection of themselves in the water! Lauren fights Margaret's force to calm her down and eventually decides to do the shoot. She encourages her with the words, "POSE OR DIE! AND I MEAN, THEN, YOU WILL ACTUALLY DIE!" Nonetheless, she masters her fear and produces a fierce photograph.
Emeline had an average shot this week. The judges told her that she needed to step up her photographs if she wanted to stay in. They were beginning to look over her high fashion appeal as many of the other girls had it too now.
Ocean was elegant and professional this week. She worked the camera both times and the judges were proud to see her improving.
Lea did well this week as well. The judges just wanted her to stand out now.
Kris produced a better photograph in one of the photo shoots, while the other was just a bit average. However, the judges loved her versatility, and ability to bring forth true emotion through her photos.
Georgia wowed the judges with her immense improvement and high fashion appeal. She quickly became a front runner.
Ro had hurt her leg during the challenge so she wasn't able to do too much with them during the photo shoots. However, she still managed to pull some classic shots. The judges wanted to see some more creativity.
Alicia-Rose disappointed the judges with her inconsistency and did not see her high fashion appeal come out quickly enough.
Danica wowed the judges and showed them what an original and powerful work of art she can portray & be. Both of her photos were huge improvements from the weeks before. She was determined.
Jenna had a control and tension in her body that the judges realized while reviewing her film and photo shoots side by side. Many of her poses were repeated and she would go about that pose until she got it right.
Lauren disappointed the judges in terms of her backlash at Margaret due to her anxiety, but was commended on her ability to finally overcome it and produce high fashion photographs. Both were absolutely gorgeous.
Alice delivered a better shot in the first photo shoot than the second. She explained that a few of the girls banded against her and she thought she was innocent. Many of the judges wondered why Alice seemed so weak and naive this week for pointing this out when usually she was quite smart. They worried about her.
Dani wowed the judges as well. She produced some creative poses. She certainly did work on her facial expressions. Now, she just needed to stand out. She had one of the most interesting looks though!
SOPHIE Q: "Will Alicia-Rose & Emeline step forward please? Neither of you has succeed this week in portraying the modeling potential we are all looking for. In fact, both of you are standing in front of us for similar reasons. Both of you don't seem to show the consistency that the other girls, now becoming true models, are portraying. You girls cannot rely solely on beauty alone - you must ALL TRY harder! It irks the judges to do so, but we have decided that BOTH of you are going home tonight."
ELIMINEES: "Alicia-Rose: Well this journey was short and not so sweet I guess. Hahaha. I bonded with some of these girls that I thought were pretty cool, but turns out, nothing in life is ever as simple as you believe. I may be naive but now I know that gaining my trust won't be as easy anymore. / Emeline: A double elimination simply means the judges couldn't wait to get rid of the both of us. Hahaha. Well no. I just think it simply means that it would've been unfair if one of us stayed over the other since we have similar critiques anyway. I mean, I do see a lot more modeling potential in me than Alicia, but the judges don't like me for who I am, so what can I say?"

Stalagmite or Stalactite?,

  • After a surprising double elimination, the Top 10 learn to master the art of movement. They practice their dance moves and perform in groups. The girls in the winning group aim for a chance to win the heart of Proenza Schouler. At the photo shoot, the girls must strike poses in very dim cave (without being able to see much of their surroundings), and haute couture frenzy ensues.

Spoilers/Rumours

  • The fourth week photo shoot requires the girls to pose inside and outside of a small cave with stalagmites & stalactites in haute couture styling & Balenciaga dresses.
  • There will be a non-elimination in the 10th week.
