Atlanta's Next Top Model, Cycle 4

Atlanta's Next Top Model Cycle 4 is the fourth season of Atlanta's Next Top Model. It premiered on Saturday, September 12, 2009. The prizes have changed once again this season. The winner will receive management and representation by IMG Model Management, contrary to the prior Elite Model Management. Their beauty contract with Revlon worth $100000 remains the same. Previously, the winner graced the cover and only 4 pages of Elle Magazine, but starting Cycle 4, she will have a 6 page spread instead. In addition, she will get an opportunity to meet with top casting agents in Paris, France and finally, win a new Honda Accord. Contestants who are eligible in the contest must be at least 5'7" in height. The minimum age limit dropped from 18 to 16 years of age. The maximum age limit remains the same at 27. Another eligibility requirement needs the contestants to be at least 105 pounds in weight to promote healthy eating.

Judges Lauren Lee Claire and Augustus Greene have been replaced by new judges. Freshly joining the panel this cycle, we welcome Taylor Vanderburgliesse, critically acclaimed fashion photojournalist and author, along with Margaret Stern-Stowry, now the series' photo shoot and creative director with experience as an editor-in-chief of Lacey Magazine.

This cycle's overseas international fashion destination is ______________.

Viewers got to pick the motto for the cycle. Possible choices include: "Let the games begin", "It's not just a game", "Time to bring your model A game", "Can you beat the Boss at her own game?", "Game over/Play time is over", "Modeling is not a game" "Why yes - models play flare/Models don't play fare", and "Free For All". However, none of these mottos were eventually picked. The final one decided to be used is "Level 4: Harder, better, faster, and stronger than ever before." Nonetheless, as a promotional aid, buses across Rein have the AtNTM 4 ad on it with the motto "Let the games begin."

The final 2 contestants will once again make it to a live finale where the audience and general public may vote for the winner (though they do not decide who ultimately becomes the winner, as they are just accounted for as one additional vote to the judges' votes in the finale). Prior to the finale, the models will go on go-sees themselves to determine the final catwalks they will walk in for the finale judging. A finalist may book all jobs or no jobs - it is up to them.

In the end, _____________ was crowned the fourth Atlanta's Next Top Model on _______________.

Weekly Synopsis

The Opening (Casting),
A new season of AtNTM begins with the Top 30 girls entering the D Woods Coliseum, this time around. It is extremely dark but all of a sudden, the lights come on and there is a screen up, up, at the top of the dome. The floor begins to shake and the girls are all actually standing on an elevator. They are elevated to face the screen, 40 feet up in the air. A fragile-looking platform awaits the girls on the other side in front of the screen. Isis complains as she is terrified of heights. Eva scopes the other girls out. Rara sees Sam Mo as her competition. Sam B. quickly notices that there are two Sam's and there has never been contestants with the same name in the same Top 14. Suddenly, Sophie Q appears on the screen and the girls scream wildly. She welcomes them to a very exciting Cycle 4 and tells them it's only going to get harder from here. She told them about the changes in prizes and also requirements. The girls are all divided into teams of 5 (thus 6 teams). Team 1: Sunita, Isis, Eva, Persey, & Ritelle. Team 2: Karen, DaVia, GV, Tashi, & Holland. Team 3: Holly, Myhrsades, Becca, Gray, & Cyindé. Team 4: Winona, Espadrille, Thalia, Danica, & Rosa. Team 5: Sam B., Sam M., Nina, Aisling, & Jenna. Team 6: Arabel, Dani, Mistee, Hollyrae, & Rara. They were told that their first photo shoot in the competition was nude. The girls were all in shock, however Holland already starts stripping. Sophie Q hesitates and then tells them that it was just a joke, but commends Holland for her bravery and early determination. She says that the first name called in every team will be the team leader. Each team will have 20 minutes to pose together while hanging in the air to create a fashion portrait. Team 4 lacked communication but especially leadership. Winona broke down crying and said she may have terminated her chances, after coming back to the semifinals for the second cycle in a row. Jenna & Dani are upset that they are in separate teams as they are great friends. Team 1 does superbly. Team 2 was very editorial, but DaVia fell short. Team 3 seemed to be quite high fashion but some disappointed in boredom. Team 4's members all posed on their own, without much coordination. Team 5 had an amazing photograph. Team 6 struggled primarily, but they struggled through. It was already time to cut the girls. Surprisingly, they were lowered back down to the ground where Sophie Q was waiting. In each Team's "Coin Case", there would be some that stayed and some that did not. She explained that the theme of this cycle was Games. She mentioned that the talent was so ridiculous this cycle that it was already hard to narrow the girls down to 30, and now 20! The Top 20 moved on, and the 10 eliminated were devastated. The girls then went in one-by-one for interviews. Additionally, they showed off their runway walks and took polaroids. Sophie Q was with two casting agents and Jo. Rara wondered where Augustus Greene and Lauren Lee Claire were. There already seemed to be a little drama coming from GV, who was destined to make everybody's lives miserable until she wins the crown. After, the girls were all lifted up the podium again where Sophie Q was in front of the screen awaiting the lucky Top 14, who would cross the bridge to the Finals platform. One by one, the girls were called up, leaving 6 in desperation but whom were sent packing, in hopes of coming back next cycle. Sophie Q told everybody that it was extremely difficult to narrow them all down to 14, but they had to.
Level One (Week 1)

  • The first challenge has the girls sent straight to a fashion party and opening function answering questions in front of the public, doing their runway walks, and being evaluated on their potential. The winner of the challenge causes some jealous disputes to erupt already in the competition. Two new judges are introduced and the first girl is sent packing.

There is a fashion opening functions going on for the series premiere. Sam B. opens the new series with a confessional. She is highly excited to be working in the fashion industry because she is a photographer herself but she always lacked confidence to go in front of the lens. Sam M. was surprised that they kept both of the Samantha's, but vowed to be the last one standing. Nina was glad she made it because she had the most masculine look out of all the girls but she told the others that you can never know what you expect, and she would not beat herself over not making it. She was a cashier but was also a full-time philosophy student. The girls all met up with each other backstage when Taylor Vanderburgliesse makes a surprise entrance. The girls had no idea who Taylor was. Holland mentions that suddenly they're standing in front of "an exotic looking half-Asian, half-Dutch seeming, tall lean man in very fashionable clothes sporting an eccentric necklace". Taylor scares the girls and does not give them a warm welcome but immediately intimidates them by telling them the truths of the business. He picks out a handful of girls to stand in front and tells them he is a modeling and casting agent and that he sees no potential in any of the ones behind them. The girls were all shocked. He leaves without another word and the girls head up to the stage where they must give a one-minute speech about themselves. Espadrille embarrasses herself when she tries to be funny and tell everybody that she knows nothing about fashion and did not know her name meant a type of shoes until she was 16. Nobody laughed and she walked off. Tashi comes on stage like a nervous wreck and stumbles all over her words. She hides behind her hair and walks off stage. Holland comes on stage next and sees Taylor again, and this time, waves to him. Taylor does not wave back, but Holland goes on with her speech anyway. One by one the girls go up. At the end, Isis brings up that they do not see Sophie anywhere. Hollyrae disappoints the girls by starting to freak out and states that she does not want to do this anymore. The girls crowd around her and she says that she is very homesick and she cannot handle the stress of being in the public eye. Modeling was not a wise career choice for her. She goes home. Sophie Q comes in a while after she leaves and finally gives the girls the welcome they anticipated in her glamorous Greta Constantine gown! Eva is in shock. In her Russian accent, she mentions that she has never seen such a beautiful woman in her life. Nina scoffs and thinks that Eva is sucking up to her. Rara already mistakens Nina to be the bitch of the house. But it is Mistee who makes a bold move by laughing at Nina. Sophie Q pretends to not notice. They then show off their runway walks as Sophie Q watches and evaluates them. Espadrille trips and falls face first, embarassing herself once more. Isis had no expression in the face. Sam M.'s walk seemed very juvenile. But it was GV who stomped it out. Finally all the girls are brought back to face the crowd. Sophie Q comes on stage to welcome everybody for coming. She reveals that the girls never knew that they were being judged by each and every one in the crowd the entire time, including Taylor. She welcomes Taylor on stage. Taylor jokes by telling them one of them will be eliminated immediately. However, he does reveal that he is actually not a casting agent nor is he such an asshole! He is actually an acclaimed fashion photojournalist. Rara speculates that he may be their first photographer. Sophie Q then says that the girls would be rated upon their runway walk, their personality and natural ability to answer public questions, and finally raw potential on being a top model. Sophie Q announces that there will be a winner, and the winner of the first challenge will win immunity for the first week. The challenge winner is...MISTEE. GV gets extremely jealous. She talks with Nina behind her back since Mistee laughed at Nina scoffing. Nina quickly befriends GV and says that she thought she did the best. The girls pulled up to their new mansion!!! Without further ado, they all ran up to the door and found their first ever Sophie Mail on the door handles. Apparently, Mistee would be able to pick her bed first, along with 4 other friends! Mistee then picks the two Sam's, Holland, and Rara. GV talks with some of the other girls and says how it isn't fair that she is so privileged this week when everybody else came so close to being the winner anyway. Mistee picks the bed in the largest room with the best view of the lake. Everybody looks around and realizes that the house is the most beautiful mansion they've ever seen with games and gorgeous lights everywhere. There was also a room that looked like a club. They also noticed there was an extra bed. GV put her stuff on that bed but took another one. They then had a ring at the doorbell. A young girl with very intense and adorable eyes walks in. She explains to everybody that she is Aisling, 16, and replacing Hollyrae. The girls are lessed than impressed for their new fierce competitor whom they already met at casting week but all hugged her again anyway. Aisling does not mind that GV takes her bed and offers to sleep in the dimly lit club room. Rara steps in as the most mature one and insists that GV picks her stuff up. She denies and just keeps to herself, curling her hair with her index finger. Persey steps in as the most motherly and asks GV nicely. Furious, Rara tells her that she needn't reason with her. Mistee steps in and her and GV have a powerful quarrel. GV picks on Aisling saying that she does not mind and it is not her fault. The girls back down and already tension arises in the house. The following morning, the girls have less sleep than they need when they arrive at their first photo shoot. They are greeted by an old petite woman with glasses and a very stern look. Her assistant hands her a clipboard and she starts running down the list listing the characters that the girls will embody. They come to realization that they will be portraying Sailor Moon characters quite quickly. Margaret tells Mistee that she will be the Moon Princess and that the four friends she picked as part of her challenge win will be her "Shitennou" or the knights, in the series. The rest will be the 9 Sailor Scouts. GV is put as the actual Sailor Moon. Her and Mistee compete to become who is the better Moon "ambassador".

Model Character
Nina Sailor Mercury
Espadrille Sailor Venus
Aisling Sailor Mars
GV Sailor Moon
Eva Sailor Jupiter
Tashi Sailor Saturn
Cyindé Sailor Uranus
Persey Sailor Neptune
Isis Sailor Pluto
Mistee Moon Princess
Holland Jadeite
Sam B. Nephrite
Rara Zoisite
Sam M. Kunzite

Holland was actually a bit disappointed that she had to portray one of the Shitennou, but did not complain about it too much. She just kicked back and relaxed during her shoot and it turned out to be pretty well. Some of the girls actually did not listen to Margaret's directions because they weren't supposed to take her seriously, but their photographer was indeed Taylor and they listened to him instead. When they got back home, Rara told the other girls that she was psychic and had some special ESP powers. Some of the girls actually believed her. For the rest of the night, Rara laid down some tarot cards. They wanted to know who would be eliminated first, and the cards pointed to something water-related. Immediately, the girls thought of Neptune and Mercury as the two water-elements in the Sailor Moon series. Therefore, it was speculated that either Nina or Persey would go home. During judging, the girls were criticized for not taking the competition serious enough and they were told that Margaret & Taylor would be the new judges of the cycle replacing Lauren Lee and Augustus. Jo remained. The guest judge was a prominent casting agent flown in straight from Milan. The judges fought a lot during judging, especially between Taylor and Margaret and the guest judge.
Eva was told it was just the beginning when she said she was already beginning to feel a bit pressured. However, her photo was one of the best and she supposedly had the highest rating for potential.
Isis was congratulated on her interesting look but was criticized immediately for being too quiet.
Aisling proved to be a strong competitor. She had another great shot.
Holland was not far from being the challenge winner. She also delivered a great shot, if not, the best. She had raw potential.
Espadrille was amazing photographically, but everything else, she fell short. Jo laughed when she heard Espadrille admit she knew nothing about espadrilles until she was 16.
Nina was always the one that stood out. She took a bad photo but the judges saw that she had potential. She needed a lot of improvement.
Sam B. seemed to be better than Sam M. Her experience behind the lens worked in her favour as she knew the best angles and shapes and the physics.
Sam M. was disappointed that she was always being compared and contrasted with Sam B. The judges loved that she was half-Asian and saw that she had a lot of potential. Taylor, on the other hand, being half-Asian himself, actually did not agree.
Rara had a good photo but the judges saw potential.
Tashi delivered an alright shot but the judges saw potential.
GV was definitely a strong contender. She was a force to be reckoned with.
Cyinde delivered one of the best shots. She was already a frontrunner in all of the judges' eyes.
Persey was an exotic beauty. The Milan judge loved her but the other judges were not quite sure how far she would go. Her first photo disappointed. They also questioned her physique.
Mistee was undoubtedly the early one to watch out for.
Bottom 2 Speech: "Persey and Nina, please step forward. It was extremely difficult narrowing you all down to the Final 14, and we technically even had a Top 15 cast. The first cut is always the deepest. No matter what, I want you both to know that the journey has JUST begun. Do not give up, only keep going forward. We believe that both of you have potential, but one of you has more...and with our abilities, we feel one of you will benefit more through this competition. Persey, your look is not an everyday look, but it is not high fashion. It may appeal to some, but it is limiting, as it is with your body shape also. Nina, your look is especially difficult to understand. You can be high fashion, but we are unsure if you have the commercial appeal. It seems like you'll need a lot of work...But it is always easier to make a high fashion girl commercial though. Congratulations Nina, you're still in the running towards becoming Atlanta's Next Top Model.
Eliminee Speech: Persey: "I thought - this is it! This is going to be my breakthrough! Sophie and the judges were right - we're only going to keep going forward. This is just the beginning. I'll miss cooking for these girls over here. I thought my look would take me further but these girls have got some immense potential. Right now, I see Cyinde as the winner. She's just got 'it'."

Beauty in All Forms (Week 2)

  • The girls are whisked out of bed early after a quarrel between the two noisiest girls to receive their makeovers! Tashi complains and contradicts herself. The photo shoot requires the girls to show true beauty in all forms.

The models encounter a quarrel once they are back at the house. GV is aggravated as Mistee purposely spoils her dinner after being mad from the week before. GV yells at her in Spanish and Mistee, acting immaturely, has less than nice things to say back to her. Eva steps in as she is perfecting her runway walk. Cyinde and Holland try to mediate the fighting and everybody just settles down after. Tashi complains that her hair is too annoying to comb out and straighten everyday as it is naturally curly and too long for her liking. The following day, the girls are whisked out of bed early in the morning where they are greeted by Sophie Q in front of a salon! She lies by telling them they are all going bald, but then sends the girls all in front of a table to start receiving their makeovers! The girls are actually all quite shocked to see their new looks, except for Sam M. She complains that her hair remained too much the same as she anticipated a much more dramatic makeover. Rara is in love with her long, new, jet black extensions, by far. Tashi is surprised that she received her short cut but she also remembered saying that she hated her old hair. In a way, she broke down and did not talk to anyone else for the remaining day. Back home, people are still surprised that Rara was able to predict the bottom 2 contestants! Rara tries to convince the girls even more that she is psychic and she comes from a line of fortune tellers. Eva, with her new fresh blonde hair, is freaked out and tries to befriend Aisling who seems to be a bit down. Aisling explains that she misses her family in the UK and moved to Atlanta on her own with her sister after a fight in their house. She talks about how she uses a veneer to try and hide her inner sadness but it does not transmit as something everybody likes. GV and Mistee remind her of bad memories. Eva tells her she understands. Nina steps in to try to help but just feels like she is interrupting something personal. She worries about her place in the competition and she decides to work the hardest she has ever worked in her life. Holland does not like her makeover as she explains she had the bob before, although she has never tried modeling with it before. The girls are taken to a Revlon warehouse where they need to shoot a commercial. They must make up their own signature line at the end. Espadrille flukes it and does marvelous. Sam M. struggles while Sam B. excels. Rara is stepping up her game. Mistee is good as always. GV has her natural sly charisma and intriguing demeanor while the others fall flat. Eva stumbles upon her words but her grace and optimism makes up for it. Aisling surprisingly forgets her lines but looks effortless. Holland seems to not try while Cyinde seems a bit forced. Nina struggles with delivering the lines in front of the camera but back stage, the girls report that she is doing excellent. She is nervous and just wants to do good. Isis, is reportedly the most bland and forgettable, despite her interesting makeover. Tashi wins the challenge as she surprisingly does the best and the creative director loves her exotic look. Immediately following the challenge, the girls are flown to their photo shoot location, in McKenzie! There was a blizzard warning that day - ideal for the photo shoot. They would have to be alien-like inhabitants of the north portraying beauty in all forms. The girls had animalistic costumes but the make-up remained minimal. It was quite an editorial shoot, however the photo shoot was a beauty shoot, focusing on the girls' faces and torsos more. After the photo shoot, Tashi was able to pick 3 friends. She picks Nina, Espadrille, and Eva. These girls are all flown to a resort hotel in Alacura, New Canada, where they witness a fine dining with seafood and a luxurious spa after. On the other hand, the remaining contestants spend their chilly night in a log cabin fending for themselves. Sam M. complains the most while GV decides to start a campfire in the house. She uses a bucket and lights it up then girls start singing and living the most out of what they have. The next day, all the girls are flown back to Rein for judging and elimination. The judging test had the girls tested on their fashion knowledge. Taylor laughed at most of them and Margaret was humiliated when Holland asked what her job description was.
Eva shown through with her photo this week. The judges started to see some top model potential, already! They loved her fierce makeover and eyes!
Isis delivered yet another striking photo but was criticized for being too bland in her commercial.
Aisling delivered an amazing photograph. The judges also saw some top model potential in her too. Her look was quite unique.
Holland impressed with a great photo, but failed to impress with her laid-back attitude. She did comment however, that she wanted this.
Espadrille redeemed herself from last week and she definitely improved. She still needed to stand out from the other girls a bit more though.
Nina also redeemed herself from last week. Her makeover helped her achieve wonders. The judges wondered if she was doubting herself but Sophie Q reassured them that her film showed no second guessing.
Sam B. delivered a good shot, however, it was not breathtaking. She was a bit tense in her jaw.
Sam M. also delivered an okay shot. The judges still wanted her to step it up.
Rara delivered a fabulous shot. Her makeover was haunting.
Tashi shone drastically this week. Her face structure and everything was very evident in both the commercial and photo shoot. All she needed to do was work on her confidence a bit more.
GV fell a bit short this week as her photo was actually not as good as last week's.
Cyinde had a good photo. She did not stand out at the top like she did last week though. They wanted to see how far she could go.
Mistee impressed again with a delightful photo. The judges loved her new look and it seemed almost as if Rara and her switched hairstyles.
Bottom 2 Speech: "Will Holland and Cyindé please step forward? Let's start with you Holland. It has come to the judges' concern that your personality and laid-back attitude may ironically be a little harsh for you. We feel like you need to be less of a party animal and start acting mature enough to take this seriously. We are worried about how you really feel towards being in the competition. However, we see potential in you as a top model. Cyinde, you undoubtedly possess one of the most different faces here in the competition. However, is that enough? ...We want more from you Cyinde - so show us you deserve this. Congratulations Cyindé, you're still in the running towards becoming Atlanta's Next Top Model.
Eliminee Speech: Holland: "Ummm...I just feel like whatever decision they made, it was a good decision. I'm not going to take anything for granted. I'm just going to work on myself and show that I'm a good model inside out. Catch me in France, ya'll!"

Pose-y Posse (Week 3)

  • The girls bare it all as nude art models where Benny Ninja coaches them how to pose. During judging, one of the judges call Isis "just boring". The photo shoot requires the girls to think of very intricate poses for a very philosophical photo shoot!

With the departure of Holland, the mood in the house seemed to have died down a little. Cyinde complains that the judges sent her in the bottom 2 without looking at her portfolio and the praise she had through out the entire competition. She reminds us that she is from a very poor family and just recently relocated to a small town, so she has to work extra hard to become an international supermodel. This is not what she wants, it's what she needs. Aisling and Eva find Barbies in a cupboard and start playing with them. Sam M. calls them immature. A while later, they receive Sophie Mail and they are thrust to an art gallery. The girls wonder what's up when they are pulled into an open room in the middle of the lobby with artists and their easels facing an empty platform in the middle. Benny Ninja comes out unexpectedly and starts to teach them the basics of modeling, posing, and movement. They are thrust into bodysuits and begin pose offs on the platform. Then, he surprises the girls telling them that they need to strip down even more and pose as live nude art models - in front of an audience. Some of the girls freak out, while the others embrace it. Sam B. has never been nude in front of anybody else before - not even her boyfriends (revealing that she is still a virgin)! The underaged girls are a bit skeptical and Eva breaks down crying. She comes from a more conservative family but she tries to be the most liberal one. She does not want to be disowned, but Rara, the most motherly in the group now, encourages her that everything will be alright and they will not disown her. The girls all stand together, however, each facing a different artist. People walk past the room but are forbidden from taking photographs. Benny Ninja evaluates the girls' performances and releases the fact that the winner of the challenge is surprisingly Nina! GV, the dance instructor is jealous because she always moves and poses with dancing, but has yet to win a challenge. Nina is told that she gets to pick 2 friends, and they will be featured in a national ad for Payless Shoe Source in Seventeen Magazine. Nina picks Sam M. and Rara. When the girls are back home, Mistee calls GV not a model as she did not win "her" supposed challenge. GV retaliates by asking her "then what am I?" and picks the young ones like Aisling and Eva to be on her side. Mistee cries but we later realize it is fake. GV apologizes and admits she does come across a bit harsh sometimes but forgets to acknowledge the fact that Mistee initiated much of the conflict. They both then admit in a confessional to be fake friends with each other and if they ever had to face each other in a duel, they would go all out. Nina and the girls return home and the tension in the house starts to rise. Espadrille starts noting the fact that Nina looks like a man and wonders if she is a transsexual. This rumour spreads around the house quickly. Nina calls everybody to a house meeting and decides to clear up any drama. The other girls say that everything is fine but they go back and talk about her behind her back anyway. Nina just goes to sleep. The next day, they receive another Sophie Mail and it is full of philosophy. The girls wonder if they will be posing as Greek philosophers or the zodiac or something prominent in historical context. They were wrong. At the studio, Margaret greets them and assigns each girl a character to portray. Each character consists of an adjective and a noun. They are usually very contradicting and confusing. She explains that judging from the girls' natural personalities, the characters assigned to them will be the hardest for each of them.

Model Character
Isis The Emotionless Thinker
GV The Barbaric Giver
Sam B. The Cunning Healer
Sam M. The Ugly Dazzler
Rara The Gentle Giant
Espadrille The Hopeless Wisher
Nina The Wicked Caregiver
Mistee The Stunned Impaler
Tashi The Lazy Worker
Cyinde The Hopeless Romantic
Aisling The Runaway Doomsayer
Eva The Gnostic Liberal

Eva complains as she is in fact coming from a very spiritual and knowledgeable family, but she must breakaway and become liberal. Mistee does not know what an impaler is but does whatever is opposite to her personality. Tashi creates humour in her photo shoot. Isis lacks energy on the shoot but she admits that it is because of the character given - she must pull through. The girls are dressed in designer Alexander McQueen garments for the photo shoot. They were instructed to be VERY editorial and that the photographer, Paul Westlake, would shout random, very absurd commands at them, and they were to follow and improvise. After the photo shoot, the girls are all very nervous as they do not know what to expect. Alexander McQueen is actually the guest judge.
Eva had a look of distress, confusion, and maturity. She stood out from the others this week with her ethereal and serene beauty. It was one of the most intriguing photos in the bunch. She was taking true emotions from inside her and using it to her advantage. A true model.
Isis had some of the most interesting poses but her face did not work so well. She explained that she has to be emotionless, but the judges told her that she was not supposed to take it literally. Taylor specifically said that the judges "wanted her to step outside her comfort zone and told her last week that she was JUST boring, and this week she is even more JUST boring." Isis begins to bawl.
Aisling had a bit of an immaturity in this photograph but the judges thought it was very creative. Her film looked like a comic strip.
Espadrille had some of the most absurd poses but the judges liked her final photo. Margaret did mention, however, that it took pretty long to reach that photo (her last 20 frames were the best).
Nina produced an amazing and creative photograph. She was finally stepping up her game.
Sam B. again delivered a good but not great shot.
Sam M. shocked everybody when she produced such an amazing photograph. It was noted as one of the best shots in AtNTM history! She really used her energy and craziness and channeled it well.
Rara delivered a great shot. She was definitely a fabulous editorial model.
Tashi did not do as good as she did last week, but the judges noted some improvement in her confidence. Tashi made the shoot humourous and positive also.
GV had a very strong photograph. She proved Mistee wrong and that she was a model, as noted by the judges.
Cyinde delivered an angelic approach to the photograph. The judges loved her look and the diverse facial expressions she would give in her film.
Mistee disappointed this week. She complained and said that she did not understand the brief nor her character. The judges told her that it is not an excuse, because none of other girls understood, and neither did the judges. They wanted to see how well they handled it.
Bottom 2 Speech: "*sighs* Two girls left. Mistee and Isis, please step forward. You both have incredulous bone structure and have produced some of the best photos in the competition so far. But we notice something in both of you that we cannot bear. Mistee, you are 17, and you seem to be immature and that you have excuse after excuse. Isis, you have been less than exciting and personality is crucial in this industry. As clients, none of these judges would like to work with these qualities. I know we're being very direct and harsh this week, but when you work out there, it may be even worse. We've decided to keep one of you - and that's Mistee. Congratulations.
Eliminee Speech: Isis: "This journey was cut short for me, I believe. I'm willing to try hard and to be as nice to people as I can. But I believe I do have a personality. My friends never mentioned that I didn't before?! *laughs* It's a bit of a stupid thing to be eliminated for, quite frankly. I'm going to work hard and be the model I know I am!"

You've Got to Be Versatile! (Week 4)

  • A long and stressful week awaits the girls as they cope with yet another eliminee. This time, they meet with a beauty pageant winner, their eventual manager, several male models, controversy, and must get to know each other even more, for their double photo shoots this week. Speaking of doubles - there will be double eliminees!

Mistee feels defeated and even implies that she doesn't know whether or not she wants to continue on. GV actually goes to comfort her and the two share a moment. Sam M. sees her as fake and results to a confessional. When she comes out, she talks to Sam B. and the two discuss how they are always compared and how Sam M. did better than her last week. They would go full out against each other and they want only one Sam to be left by next week. Nina is ecstatic that she won the challenge and brings so much positivity to the house. Tashi does not know where she stands in the competition and is just confused as to whether she is seen as great or just good. Cyinde no longer feels like she deserves to be in the competition. They receive Sophie Mail with various pictures portraying different kinds of modeling (i.e. catalog, high fashion editorial, CoverGirl). Soon enough, the girls are whisked to a beauty pageant. Alyse Faye, Miss Rein Chinese Pageant 2009, is there to judge. The girls see her as very pretty. Alyse welcomes the girls and explains to them that she will be teaching them the differences between pageantry, commercial, editorial, and high fashion. Alyse explains that winning the pageant has led her to so many different opportunities but she must portray her look and self differently everytime. The girls are each put on the spot to think of an item right away and model it as if they were in a Wal-Mart catalog. With the same item, they are told to model as if they are in Vogue Italia. They are put through an obstacle course where they must do challenges consisting of pageantry (answering a common "how will you change the world" question), commercial (filming a 10 second commercial in 1 take), editorial (taking an editorial photo), and high fashion (sporting a gorgeous haute couture dress and doing runway). Alyse explains that nobody did well. However, this was not a challenge anyway. She then hands them another Sophie Mail, and immediately, they are whisked away to a creepy building. Margaret meets them there with angel wings and explains that they will be shooting an editorial where they must portray different religions. She then tells them there is a surprise. After the girls are done their hair & MU, she whisks out two male models - Andy & Klein. Sam B. once again blushes. Nina stares at them and Sam M. makes a comment saying that it was as if Nina wanted to eat them. Aisling laughs. Margaret says that the photo shoot will be very controversial as the portrayal of some religions may not be right (at all) and some religions do not allow for unmarried women to mingle with naked men! Their photographer is Ellen von Unwerth, surprisingly known for female erotica editorials. The biggest surprise comes to the girls - they are shooting nude. Eva is terrified once again and wonders if she should opt out of the photo shoot. To her surprise, Tashi says she does not want to do the photo shoot. It was against her actual religion. She is disappointed in herself and comforts Eva, so Eva decides to do it anyway.

Model Religion
Cyinde Christianity
Mistee Muslim
Sam M. Hinduism
Nina Buddhism
Eva Atheism
Sam B. Yoruba (African)
Espadrille Neo-Paganism
GV Wiccan
Rara Rastafari
Aisling Satanism

Many of the girls struggled to find a comfortable pose. The altar was adjusted to fit into the altar for each of the different religions. Eva was extremely glad to get Atheism, as she would not know how to portray the other religions. Both of the Sams struggled. Aisling kept complaining that the male models kept touching her, but the photographer insisted that they did. Tashi was later on very disappointed in herself for not doing the photo shoot. Immediately after, the girls thought they were going home but instead were whisked away to IMG Model Management for their first time! Everybody was ecstatic now. They each had a minute to talk about themselves and then for Ivan Bart, the senior vice president, to evaluate their portfolios. When Ivan got to Tashi's portfolio, he noticed that she did not have a photograph for the most recent photo shoot (they all received their "best photos" right after the photo shoot). He then got everyone back together and explained that this was the challenge, that there would be no challenge winner, only a challenge eliminee. The worst candidate, he thought, was Tashi - for not doing as she is told - and that is a big no. Everybody was utterly appauled, and Tashi was eliminated immediately. She confessed that she thought she had a much better chance in the competition and was super bummed by Ivan's decision. If they had not done that photo shoot, she probably would not have been eliminated! The Top 10 remaining girls were then driven to Winners. The girls, saddened and utterly shocked by the sequence of the day's events, were exhausted and did not want to do anymore. Much to their disappointment, Margaret was there again. ANOTHER photo shoot ensued! With 10 girls left, they each had to pick a partner to pose with. They were then told they needed to portray fashions from different decades with Winner's NEW Past Fast-shions Collection 2009.

Pair Decade
Sam M. & Sam B. Modern
Nina & Rara The 90s
GV & Espadrille The 80s
Mistee & Cyinde The 60s
Aisling & Eva The 20s

They were told to pose in a Winners' catalog as if they were in it in that specific decade assigned. Everybody picked each other for different reasons. The two Sams wanted to see who was better. Nina and Rara thought they would make a dynamic photo and enjoyed each others' potential (saw each other as the competition). GV & Espadrille for both being Latina. Mistee & Cyinde for thinking they could also make a dynamic photo. Aisling & Eva, both the youngest, tackling the oldest decade. After everybody was done, they all got plenty of rest for the next couple of days. At the end of the week, they had the dreaded Sophie Mail - elimination time. Photographer Ellen von Unwerth serves as the guest judge this week.
Eva seemed to have done exceedingly well in her Atheism shoot. Her commanding presence was well taken for. The judges saw great maturity in her starting to develop. Her editorials have been great! With Aisling, the photo was very posh and rather mature for their age. However, the judges loved it and her this week.
Aisling shocked the judges and delivered a scary photograph. However, it was noted that she complained the most and was the hardest to work with during the Religions shoot. Looking at her photo with Eva, they noticed she had the same face and roughly the same kind of modeling. They did not see much versatility and that was what they were going for this week.
Espadrille finally stepped it up this week. Her photograph was absolutely incredible. With GV, she was full of spunk and energy. She was very versatile actually! The judges saw her potential finally coming out to a great extent this week. She was well commented.
Nina showed the judges she understood the differences between the different kinds of modeling. She did very well and the judges warned everyone she was a force to be reckoned with.
Sam B. underwhelmed the judges this week in both photographs. They were good, but not great. She seems to have plateaued.
Sam M. did not grasp the concepts of Hinduism and ultimately failed to deliver. In her Winners photo, it was just very lackluster. She explained she was going catalog, but it was just boring. The judges thought that she could not grasp concepts too well.
Rara surprised the judges with her Rastafari photograph. It was one of her best, if not THE best. Rara seemed like a different person. In her 90s photo, she really channeled a 90s feel and was showing the judges she was a true model - editorially AND commercially.
GV had an interesting photograph for both photo shoots. The judges wanted to see a wider range in her expressions, however.
Cyinde delivered ANOTHER angelic approach to the Christianity photograph. The judges, however, then began to wonder if she was only one-note. Her 60s photo channeled a mod feel though, so that kept the judges intrigued.
Mistee regained herself again, and delivered two amazing shots in the same week. She was really a force to be reckoned with.
Bottom 2 Speech: "Will Sam B. and Sam M. please step forward? *hesitates* The two Sams. Who would've thought? I'm sure you both know - through out this entire competition, we've been comparing you too simply because of your names. We finally need to come to a conclusion as to which Sam is better than which. Sam Browne, you are, without a doubt, one of the prettiest girls here, but you can also take some fashionable photos. But how much more can you give us? We're starting to think that you have plateaued. Sam Mo, you undeniably have one of the most interesting faces here. But you scare us because time and time again, we think that you do not understand the briefs of photo shoots. Is that why you have delivered some lackluster photographs? But you changed our minds last week - because that photo was AMAZING. Was it just a fluke? I only have one SET of photos in my hands, and this one set of photos represents that ONE Sam, who will still be in the competition. I hate to do this, but there can only truly be one...That girl is......Sam......M. Congratulations. Are you surprised? We see your potential developing, and for Sam B., we already saw it bloom. We're giving you another chance Sam.
Eliminee Speech: Sam B.: "So we finally see who's better. Hahaha. It won't be the last time you see me. The judges have made their decision, so I mean, what can I do? I'm just going to go back to school and hopefully be a photographer. Maybe one day I'll be shooting some of these girls too. Well, the younger ones. Hahaha! I'd like to see Eva win, she's pretty cool. Ciao bellas!"
